Akel FARES began playing the violin at the Carlos Gomes Conservatory in Belém (Brazil), where in 2004 he became professor of violin and chamber music. In 2007, he obtained a license in violin from the State University of Pará, then was invited as conductor to participate in the social project TIM Music.

Selected as part of the Brazilian Time exchange program, he continued his studies in France as part of a Masters in Musicology at Paris-Sorbonne University. At the same time, he specialized in baroque violin with Patrick Cohën-Akenine at the Conservatory of the Vallée de Chevreuse. He has participated in masterclasses with Alexander Markov, Ole Bohn and Sonja van Beek and followed Philippe Forget’s teaching in orchestral conducting.

In the field of chamber music he has performed in the ArcoTerzetto ensemble and he is a founding member of the Pedreira’s Quartet. In 2012, he participated in the AmazonArt chamber music festival in London. For ten years he was a member of the Peace Theater Symphony Orchestra (Belém).

He is also interested in research on authentic interpretation, particularly in baroc music. In this context, he was a resident at the Royaumont Foundation (Val-d'Oise). In 2013, he held a conference entitled "From fac simile to modern edition around the chaconne for solo violin" at the Open Bach festival in Evry (Essonne).

Currently, Akel FARES is professor of violin at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Communal de Grigny (91) and at the Atelier Musical des 3 Tambours (Paris).
